This charming bulb is over 400 years old and can be found in the gardens of old settlers' homes. It’s especially tough (hence its longevity), and multiplies well with each season. But the best bit is its ever-evolving colour and form. With every new spring, the bulbs produce some quite different blooms - shaggy powderpuff centres, flecks of green, curly bursts of unusual petals; you’ll just have to plant some to see!
