Description

'Ben Ard' currants have numerous culinary uses and are prized for being high in vitamin C. 'Ben Ard' is grown only in New Zealand and it contains higher levels of anthocyanins than all other varieties available internationally. This is the preferred variety for health supplements and functional food applications. Black currants grow best in soil that is rich in organic matter, is kept moist, but is also free-draining. They need a sunny position for best results. 'Ben Ard' produces fruit without the need for a pollinating variety, but yields will improve greatly when you grow two or more different varieties. Deciduous bush growing to about 1.5m.
